Once Christ Church was firmly established, it became clear that the eight-mile trek for people on the 6th Line was too much and parishioners began holding separate services there as early as 1856. By the 1870's the rector, Rev. James Godfrey, agreed to hold services in the schoolhouse on the 6th Line (now the Donald B. Munro Road).

By 1885 services were held permanently in St. John the Evangelist Church. The Communion service and vessels donated by Kate Hodgins (a member of one of the founding families of the church) are still used today.

From Carp, travel southwest on Donald B. Munro Drive. The road curves to the right (NW) at Thomas Argue, then later curves to the left (SW) again at Craig Side Road, crosses over Diamondview Road and veers to the right (NW) once more at Vaughan Side Road and William Hodgins' Line.

St. John's is the only church on Donald B. Munro Drive, so just keep going until you see it!
