In 1819 John Cavanaugh settled from County Tipperary, Ireland, in the
wilderness that was wooded Huntley. After nearly 20 years of perseverance,
Mr. Cavanaugh donated the land on which Christ Church was built in 1838.
To this day, the Cavanaugh family sits in pew No. 1 on the south side
of the church.
Christ Church remains the oldest original Church in the area, and worship
within its walls offers an experience steeped in history.
