The Nursery (infants and toddlers):
Looking for a little peace on a Sunday morning? Let us take care of your children! We offer a supervised Nursery in the Parish Hall during our 9:30 am Sunday service at St. James Carp. Your children will be in good hands, listening to stories and playing with a wide selection of toys in facilities which we share with the Carp Cooperative Nursery School.
Godly Play (3 to 9 years):
Godly Play teaches children the art of using religious language - parable, sacred story, silence and liturgical action - helping them become more fully aware of the mystery of God’s presence in their lives.
A Godly Play session includes time to:
-Get ready
-Tell a story using figures and objects
-Explore the story with open questions and discussion
-Respond with a choice of art – silence – play – writing . . .
Godly Play is for our 3 to 9 year olds:
Creating sacred space . . . building and working in community . . . learning to use religious language . . . making meaning.
Nooma (10 to 13 years)
This year we have an exciting new program for youth from 10 to 13 years called “Nooma” (a transliteration of the Greek word for spirit/breath/wind). Nooma is a series of short films that explore our world from the perspective of Jesus. Jesus lived with the awareness that God is doing something, right here, right now, and anybody can be a part of it. He encouraged listeners to search, to question, and to wrestle with the implications of what he was saying and doing. He started discussions about the things that matter most. Each Sunday morning our Nooma group is invited to watch one of these short films and to search, question and join the discussion. Want a closer look? Check out the trailer for one of the Nooma films at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HU7v5K4YHoA , then come join us on Sunday morning.
